The Central Bank of Egypt reported that these inflows increased by 28.1% compared to about $23.2 billion during January through July 2025. This data reflects the latest official figure for the 2026 calendar year and is approximately $6.5 billion higher than the same period in 2025. The figures represent money transferred by Egyptians working overseas.

Remittances for July alone reached about $4.5 billion, representing a 20% rise from approximately $3.8 billion in July 2025. This monthly figure follows earlier increases seen earlier this year, with January’s remittances hitting around $3.5 billion, a 21% jump from $2.9 billion a year before. February saw inflows of about $3.8 billion, a 25.7% increase over the $3.0 billion recorded in February 2025. Combining January and February, remittances totaled approximately $7.3 billion during the first two months of 2026.
On a fiscal-year basis, total remittances reached approximately $47.3 billion in 2025/2026, marking a 29.6% increase from the $36.5 billion registered in 2024/2025. In June 2026, inflows stood at around $4.2 billion, up from $3.6 billion in June 2025, a 15.6% rise. The overall increase for the fiscal year amounted to about $10.8 billion. These fiscal-year figures cover July 2025 through June 2026, while the current total of $29.7 billion pertains to January through July 2026.
Remittance inflows maintain double-digit expansion
According to the Central Bank of Egypt, a record $41.5 billion was remitted during the calendar year 2025, representing a 40.5% increase over the roughly $29.6 billion sent in 2024. This rise equated to about $11.9 billion in dollar terms. During the first half of fiscal 2025/2026, remittances reached around $22.1 billion, up from $17.1 billion a year earlier, a 29.6% growth for the six-month period.
In December 2025, remittances amounted to about $4.0 billion, a 24% increase from $3.2 billion in December 2024, which was then considered a monthly record. By January 2026, cumulative fiscal inflows had climbed to $25.6 billion, reflecting a 28.4% rise from $20.0 billion. By February, the total had increased to approximately $29.4 billion, compared to $23.0 billion the previous year, marking a 28% growth over the eight-month fiscal span.
Official statistics indicate rising remittance levels across periods
The upward trend persisted into the spring months. Remittances between July and March of the fiscal year 2025/2026 reached around $34.9 billion, a 32% increase from $26.4 billion. By April, the ten-month total had grown to approximately $39.2 billion, which is 33.2% higher than the $29.4 billion reported a year earlier. April alone contributed about $4.3 billion, representing a 44% increase from $3.0 billion in April 2025, with an absolute monthly gain of roughly $1.3 billion.
As of May, remittances for the fiscal year had reached approximately $43.1 billion, a 31.2% increase from $32.8 billion during the same period in the previous year. The inflows for May alone amounted to about $3.9 billion, an increase of 13.5% over roughly $3.4 billion in the prior year. The total for 11 months was about $10.3 billion higher than the previous year, with the fiscal year concluding at $47.3 billion before July’s contributions pushed the 2026 calendar-year total to $29.7 billion. Throughout these official reports, both cumulative and monthly figures consistently remained above their respective periods from the previous year.
