Seattle, Washington / RankWire.AI / – On Wednesday, Starbucks Corporation, the global retail coffee giant, announced its fiscal third-quarter 2026 results, surpassing Wall Street’s estimates across both profit and sales figures. The company’s disclosures revealed that Starbucks stock surged as efforts to improve third-place performance paid off, leading to an optimistic outlook for 2026 that lifted share prices by more than five percent during extended trading on the Nasdaq. For the 13-week period ending June 28, 2026, the Seattle-based specialty coffee company reported consolidated net revenues of $9.3 billion, driven by an 8.1 percent increase in North American store sales and ongoing margin growth across key operational segments.

Global comparable store sales rose 7.9 percent year-over-year during the quarter, supported by a 4.2 percent growth in customer transactions and a 3.5 percent rise in average ticket size. In the core U.S. domestic market, comparable store sales increased 7.9 percent, bolstered by steady recovery in customer foot traffic and improved morning service efficiency. Non-GAAP adjusted earnings per share reached $0.85, comfortably exceeding analyst consensus estimates of $0.65 compiled by Yahoo Finance. The GAAP operating margin grew by 60 basis points to 10.5 percent, benefiting from sales leverage, supply chain efficiencies, and tariff duty refunds during the period.

This robust quarterly outcome highlights the progress made under Starbucks’ turnaround strategy, which emphasizes enhancing seating ambiance, accelerating beverage service, and elevating hospitality standards. International segment comparable store sales grew 5.7 percent, driven by increases in average ticket value and positive transaction trends across European and Middle Eastern licensed markets. Overall, consolidated net revenues declined marginally by one percent to $9.3 billion, primarily due to the structural resegmentation of retail operations in China into a licensed joint venture during the third quarter. Meanwhile, North American operating income increased to $1.0 billion from $918.7 million in the same period last year, supported by menu innovations and improved store throughput from reduced order downtime.

Restructuring in China Alters Revenue Composition

Following four consecutive quarters of comparable store sales growth and two straight quarters of expanded operating margins, Starbucks’ management has revised its full-year financial outlook upward. The updated guidance projects non-GAAP adjusted earnings per share for fiscal 2026 to fall between $2.55 and $2.65, representing a 10 percent increase from previous estimates of $2.25 to $2.45 per share. Bloomberg’s market coverage highlighted expectations for nearly 6.0 percent growth in global comparable store sales for the year, with U.S. comparable sales anticipated to grow by at least 6.5 percent in the fourth quarter.

In an earnings webcast, Starbucks CEO and Chairman Brian Niccol emphasized that the third-quarter results demonstrate the company’s core strength in coffee quality and customer experience. Niccol pointed out that while global store operations continue to execute efficiently, the quarterly figures validate positive momentum in store atmosphere and drive-thru service. CFO Cathy Smith added that disciplined cost management and top-line growth have provided clear visibility for raising the full-year outlook, with expectations for the full-year consolidated operating margin to stay above 11.0 percent.

Capital Strategy Keeps Cash Dividends Steady

Throughout the quarter, Starbucks maintained a disciplined approach to store growth, adding 175 net new locations globally and bringing the total to 41,304 outlets. Currently, company-operated stores make up 33 percent of the total footprint, with licensed cafes comprising 67 percent across both domestic and international markets. Financial reports show that investor confidence grew as efforts to revive third-place standings paid off, with the 2026 outlook improving. Institutional investors responded positively to the company’s capital allocation plans, which include consistent quarterly dividend payments and investments in store renovations and technology upgrades.

As the fiscal year approaches its final quarter, retail analysts and equity experts expect Starbucks to continue focusing on menu simplification and equipment upgrades to sustain store throughput gains. The strong third-quarter results confirm the company’s operational trajectory, positioning Starbucks to meet its elevated financial targets for the full fiscal year.

During the first seven months of 2026, German health authorities confirmed approximately 9,800 fatalities connected to heat, marking the highest mid-summer death toll since systematic tracking began in 2016. Data from the Robert Koch Institute reveals that prolonged periods of high temperatures from early April through July 19 significantly contributed to this record. The federal agency, operating under the Federal Ministry of Health, announced that the total number of deaths so far this year has already surpassed the annual totals from any recent year within the past decade.
